Point of Purchase


A collaborative project with Bryan Bennett.

Two pieces where commissioned for the exhibition Point of Purchase. The first, utilizing the graphic design principles of grocery store advertising, was Limited Edition Weekly Circular. This piece consisted of two components—a series of posters that hung in every window of the gallery highlighting the individual artists in the show, and a mass-produced flyer that served as an unofficial advertisement and catalogue for the exhibition.

The second piece that was produced (not pictured below) was a wall of silk-screened boxes that stretched the entire length of the gallery. Incorporating the same logo that was used in the flyer, imaginary skew numbers, and listings of ridiculous qualities of goods such as chocolate and glass chandeliers, the boxes were meant to playfully acknowledge our collective desire to be consumers.
